    If you cache a page, and the PR changes, that is a good indicator.
    Way back machine is good - shows you if the site is dropped domain.
    Also, checking backlinks manually with Yahoo site explorer. if site has 15 poor links but PR5 it is probably fake.

    I believe that Google only the Search Engine who provide Page Rank feature and its one kind of importance of Website, so Here Google their own toolbar and i think that they are not presenting fake page rank to their users.

    So i think that We can observe that Our Page rank is not fake which we can observe from Google toolbar.

    - indeed it will be the killer of the industry - ever time we query the TBPR its google database that we are asking for the score... and what average consumer knows that pr exists? non - its only seo-ers - looking to price the authority of a site...

    When i comes to clients - i just say - Page Rank has nothing to do with the ranking of your website and thats why you employ us to make sure you dont get ripped off... they tend to understand

    The easy way to check if there is fake PR or not, just going to Google.com and type info:domain.com, if you see it's same domain with domain you want to check, it's valid, if not, it's not valid
