Hi there, I'm about to sell a banner to a dealer website which sells a wide known product. In Google I'm on #1 for that product. The site is getting 600 uniques / day for that keyword/product. I expect that number to grow as soon as the product is released (in 1 month). What's a fair price for the banner per month? 40$ per month or more? The dealer probably gets lots of more buyers for the product which costs 250$ each.
whats your market ? or just give generalization so ppl can help you out. different rate for diff industry...
A fair price? as much as they are willing to play Start high, see if there are any takers, make them give you a valid email address in order to see the pricing. Lower the price if you can't find any buyers. Use the previously collected emails to let them know you have lowered your pricing. Alternatively, you could try to keep the price high but offer other incentives to make it worth it for them.
Nope. That means pick a number and see if they will bite. Add incentives, twist wording and numbers until they bite, if they still don't bite, lower numbers and repeat. If you rank number one in Google for that niche then you are an authority site, which gives you a lot of wiggle room. Obviously you would pick a reasonable number - I would personally start at about $100 and work my way down. Show them that whatever amount they pay, is worth it. It's all about perception of value, not actual value. Write that down The biggest mistake in business(IMHO) is undervaluing yourself, product or service and competing on price. You want an image similar to Rolls-royce or Mercades not Hyundai or Kia.
$40 Monthly for a site getting 600 uniques daily is a fair price. You can try higher and see how it goes. Just remember just because your getting 600 uniques does not mean so will the advertiser. You must also look at how many banners will be in your rotation. (if any). Personally I dont bother buying banner ads at all I only buy text links. And I couldnt tell you when the last time was I actually clicked on a banner ad.
Hey there is a number of things you have to look out for when you are selling banner space for the first time.. And it's a good thing that you're asking yourself the question about how much you think the space is worth... The simple answer is that you can never really put a price on banner space. until you have given it a trial.. Small point on a previous post on this thread... Start at 100$ then work down will not really get you both on the right foot will it... It will look like your trying to get as much money out of them as possible.. "In it for the quick money!!" - A banner can be some serious potential for making some money especially if you have someone approach you. $$$$$$ I would suggest a 1 month trial at 40$ as it is a great way gauge the situation.. You could say that you don't want to advertise a product on your website that is going to be of no use to your users whatsoever.. At the same time your potential banner advertiser would not want to pay over the odds for no leads whatsoever.. So... If the banner is a success you can push the price up to 100$ a month.. You can even offer an exclusive deal for 400$ for a 6 month period..(or 12) - then you don't have to worry about it for a certain ammount of time.. you can even say you will invest the money on getting more traffic onto the site.. The longer you can keep a happy client the better it is. Please don't get too greedy.. If the banner is not a success you can say we can carry on the trial at 40$ month by month should you wish until we can monitor the situation more.... You can even be clever and approach his competitors while he is advertising on your site and offer them his space at the end of the month... Lots of money to be made in banner space if you take a sales apporach. A little Sales tip for you should the banner not perform to the advertisers expectations... "Banners are not there just for click through.. Banners can be a good brand awareness exercise (if you have a brand especially if it’s on a home page on a website at the top of the search engines!") This is my first attempt at advice on a forum but I thought I would give it a go as I sell banner space for a living.. j4md0nut
at start pay high , and then keep paying high if you keep getting profit , if profit falls then lower the rates
