Fails to validate - anyone know the spider name?

    Hello,

Despite following all directions the site fails to validate because it says the code is not in the Index.htm file - it is! To test whether it is failing to validate because the code is not in all pages I want to add an entry in my robots file to restrict the spider to only those pages which have the code. Does anyone know the name of the spider?

The ads need to be on every page, blocking the spider (even if you can) is not the solution. What is the URL of the page that fails?

The ads aren't showing for me though I do see
in the code. Is the page a static html page?

That's your problem, the page needs to run the PHP script which will retrieve the ads and show them, which yours isn't. I don't think there is a version of the script for JSP.

Pardon my ignorance, I am a Java site. What is PHP? Some kind of dynamic HTML? And does this mean I can't use this network or am I back to my original problem of needing the spider name? Will static pages still work OK?

PHP is a scripting language, when you request a PHP page the script runs, builds and returns a standard html page. Static pages will not work as they need to be able to run the co-op script, so you may be out of luck.

I don't know much about JSP so somebody with more knowledge may know a way how to implement it with that technology.

Are you associated with the coop network, dct? If so, if you want a jsp version, I'm willing to have a go creating one if you can tell me what it needs to do.

I'm just a user like many others here. I know a third party created an ASP version once, so a JSP conversion may be a posssible. You're probably best starting another thread explaining that in the title and wait for Shawn (the admin) to respond.

Thanks. I might have a closer look at the files we have to install and see if there was a php file amongst them and see if it's readable. Then if I can't sort it out, I'll contact them as per your suggestion.
