Failed to Register www.Face8ook.com

I tried to register www.face8ook.com but after paying it told me that domain is locked and pending processing then it said failed to register . So I cancelled the domain and got $9.99 credited to my account , I requested a refund to my alertpay back .

Anyway , why is that happening ? Face8ook.com is available and I don't believe it's a trademark because it's spelled like face eight ook :D

i believe you can register the domain, have you contacted your domain name registrar?

It could certainly be trademark infringement. Trademark infringement does not need to be exact, similar, misspellings, phonetic spellings, foreign spellings, adding words to a trademark can all be infringement. Would you like to go to court and argue that you had a legitimate usage of the name that had no intent whatsoever to ride the goodwill of a famous mark? Famous marks enjoy much greater protection than ordinary marks. Could they argue it could create a likelihood of confusion? I would advise that you forget about registering this domain. If facebook takes legal action, the best you could hope for is to keep the domain and be out tens of thousands in legal fees. If you lose, you could be ordered to pay damages and treble their legal fees (since their mark is registered). The reward is not worth the risk.

For met it would be common sense NOT to register such a domain, far too many risks and not worth it.

From what I see your attempting to make the '8' appear as a 'b' in facebook

Maybe you should read this (extract from wikipedia)

    Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anticybersquatting_Consumer_Protection_Act#Overview_of_the_ACPA

hope you've got good legal representation, because I think given the similarity to facebook your going to need it!

The only value in that domain comes from its similarity to facebook.

Anyone with a unique idea would steer away from a domain name so visually close to an existing and well utilised site.

Well if you get it registered you could always sell it to owners of Facebook.

The domain shows registered now, somebody snagged it up. Not worth the legal trouble though.
