Please I will like to know the major factors that determine the page rank of a web page. Is it just back links or are there other factors Thanks
Page rank determines the importance of the page. The main factor to calculate page rank is inbound and outbound links. How many links the page has and how many other pages links to this page.
First 3 are for frequency of traffic Next 3 are for quality back links Another 3 are for uniqueness of your content or website And based on the ratio of each you can either get 1, 2 or complete 3. So that is how it is categorized. Just a little bit of an experience from the past....
page rank is determined by inbound link + outbound links + traffic , these three factors determine page rank
i think there are 3 factors, inbound link + outbound links + traffic... So, you must have it. If not, your domain will be drop.
Page Rank is determined 100% by the backlinks coming into your site. Outgoing links can send out a portion of that PR. Visitors, traffic, and everything else have absolutely nothing to do with page rank.
One more thing that i missed, make sure your html and css are clean. That is why those validators are for. Validate your html and css and make sure it has no errors. Also keep in mind page rank is defined as "Google's view of importance of the web page". So clean codes are necessary too. It never specifically says that it only needs tons of back links. Google is very strict about back links, you already have heard of textlinkads and how much google hate paid link exchange. So google does not go so easy on back links, but smart. So how can one even say that backlinks are all you need to get high PR? I could explain my points, but i just don't want to reveal a lot of things.. One common hint i would like to give is why do you think some websites with low traffic and Alexa above 10,000,000 have PR of 2 and 3.....??
Oh, I happen to know one website in the past that had no backlinks, yet its PR was 3. What can you say about that? Also, how would google know of back links unless a link had dofollow attribute? And why do you think google hates paid link exchange that has dofollow attr? And if a site has so many backlinks enough to get a high pr then why do you think its Alexa rank is so low? I am not saying backlinks are the only thing needed unlike you. Traffic, design, clean html, backlinks everything contributes equally. Accept it or not. so you need to make your site good in all the ways to make it important for google.
Stop posting a bunch of crap. Only a clueless moron would post that "clean html" contributes equally compared to backlinks. Here's a hint: Go see how many top ranking site for highly competitive keywords (like sites that spend six figures and more per year on SEO) have code that completely validate? As far as your stupid example of a site with PR and no backlinks.... well, you need to learn about toolbar PR. It is always a look at the past (so backlinks get removed) and you can fake PR with a 301 redirect. You don't get real toolbar PR without backlinks - period. And PR does NOT relate to traffic, so your Alexa example is just plain stupid. Stop pretending - you haven't the slightest clue about how PR works.
There are maybe a hundred factors in the algorithm. The biggest is incoming links and the authority of those links. One little known factor is how long your domain is registered. It helps to register your domain out 10 years. It isn't a big factor, but every little bit helps..
I have seen few site which just have one or two links and their PR is still 2 or 3 so i wouldn't agree with it that link plays major role, I think Its content which plays the major role and mind you google keeps changing their algo every now and then.
Wrong. You can have a PR 8 site with only one link. Toolbar PageRank is not given by a set number of links, but rather the PR on the page of the site linking to you divided by the number of outgoing links on the page. I wish you idiots would stop guessing about basic SEO details that have been known for years. Start by reading the google patents on PageRank. PR (toolbar PR) is only one part of google algorithm - it is not the same as what determines how your keyword will rank. There are likely 100 different factors in the algorithm - with the main ones being backlinks, domain name, site age, anchor text, link diversity, on-page factors, etc. The algorithm is very different for competitive keywords vs long tail keywords.
Sounds all very interesting However how link - site - article relevance do Google spiders define. I have friend who placed a link for organics food on to Computer company site with PR3 and it worked for organics food site and hair dresser site. So is relevance strictly important or more a preferable way of posting links where page rank more important.
- Baclinks - Backlinks from high PR sites/pages - Backlinks from relevant sites/pages - Age of website stuff like that
