Facing a strange Problem

I site domain name(www.abc.com)was ranking well for many generic keywords. Buy one month back for most of my ranking had been gone because my home page is replaced by my index page(www.abc.com/index.html).

how can i sort out this problem. Can I block my index page by robot.txt

 

you can redirect everything to the base ie http://www.example.com/ ..don't use both

 

it will get settle after a couple weeks ...happend to me too.

make sure that all your links on your site back to your home page link to abc.com and not abc.com/index.html.

This is common when a site is built using dreamweaver

 

Using robots.txt you can only exclude an entire folder (like www.abc.com/folder/) not a single page (like www.abc.com/index.html)
