As you might know, facebook has added a 'Panic' button just as 'Like' button for UK users to fight against Cyber crime. Will this actually be useful and serve the purpose? Your views, please.
I have no idea. The point is to protect children but if the person doesn't know where you live you have nothing to fear.
Only for the UK? and what sort of 'cyber crime'? Would like to see how this plays out - could maybe work for online bullying if they incorporate a strike policy. As for paedophiles, how the hell is this supposed to work? It's obviously something just put into place to make it look like they are working on the problem.
Yea I think it's to make it look like their is something going on to approach the problem of cyber bullying etc in youth - Its been responsible for a rising number of suicides and deaths in the UK. A recent case involved a huge school fight with stabbings etc - Turned out to be a huge build up that involved a lot of agro on FB. They are probably trialling it in the UK to see how it goes. I don't think its a bad thing necessarily though, we will have to see what people make of it in the near future!
