I think you should have more knowledge and reliable person to answer this question Ofcourse facebook and twitter are the two networking sites which draws more traffic and in a quicker way. In fact Facebook does it more quickly as you can display images, video, title and content to attract the viewers to your site. Moreover people do have started viral marketing as a tool to gain more traffic from facebook.
Yes, Facebook and Twitter can improve traffic to your blog or website. If you have friends on Facebook and Twitter Followers on Twitter, you can share with them your website link. What I do is write an article on my blog and then copy my article link and paste it into Facebook and Twitter. This way, I can share my article and people can now read it. If they like it, they can subscribe to your blog and become regular readers. Which is really good for your site! Hope this helped.
I work on FaceBook and it's better then Twitter. But Twitter is also best for generate the traffic at a site.
Yes, FB and Twitter can help get traffic to a website. To do this, esp. on FB, I would say that the key is to post quality content and to build relationships with fellow marketers and customers by being helpful, generous and appropriately social. People like to do business with people they like and respect, as is true offline as well. On FB, good ways to drive traffic to a website would include making a FB (Fan) Page, running FB PPC ads, becoming an active member in related Groups where you can build your reputation and perhaps talk about your business or you can start a group, become a fan of related Pages (perhaps the page admins would help promote your Page if they grow to like/trust you). Also, you can incorporate your blog posts into your FB Wall using apps like Networked Blogs, and post your own videos either via a YouTube app or direct post. I have also seen people use photos on FB as promotional tools. If you would like an example of a big name marketer that gets alot of his traffic from FB, it is Chris Farrell. In fact, he says openly that FB is his biggest source of traffic to his membership site. I do not have as much experience or knowledge on Twitter. I hope this helps

Not sure why people are ragging on the OP so bad for his name in relation to his question. Social media in general is an entirely different animal than straight SEO. It is entirely possible, if not preferable to be an expert in one, but not the other. That being said, yes... social media sites have amazing potential to increase traffic to a website if they are utilized correctly. These sites are social in nature, and require actual, legit social interaction and "character building" in order to be worth it. People buy and build lasting relationships with people they know, like and trust... so... it's different once again from SEO, whereby, you are working to please an algorithm with very limited human component.
