Facebook announced some changes to the Page Insight, analysis tools to monitor the performance of your Facebook Pages. Product Marketing Manager Galyn Burke told me that this is the first time Page Insights interface has been updated since October 2011.

Now, specific changes may sound a little mysterious to people who do not actually use Page Insights, but Burke says this update, the most part, a response to something that Facebook has been heard from the owner of Pages: "Do not just tell me how my Page do .. Tell me how I can do better next time "In the end, if the update works as expected, the business will have a better sense of what is and is not working on their page, so they can make better, more interesting content - and probably spend more on advertising with Facebook to promote that content.

To make it happen, Facebook is consolidating some metric while violating others. One change involves the People Talking About This measurement, which incorporates such things Liked the page, comment on posts, or check to perform business in Page. The problem, Burke said, is that the People Talking About This "includes many individual components of interest," but "when you bake them together in this pie, is more difficult for the owner of the page to track them individually." So, instead of combining all these elements into a single metric, Facebook will separate them into their own measurements (pictured above).

On the other hand, Facebook will keep the size of the aggregate for virality, but adds clicks to the measurement and Engagement Rate renaming.

Facebook also makes it easier to see how well the individuals posting done by creating a single scorecard (pictured below) combines all the positive (Likes, comments, shares, clicks) and negative (hide posts, un-Liked the page, reporting as spam) interaction in surroundings. Burke said that previously, if the owners want to see all the data page, they should see a different part under several tabs.

Final changes that Facebook announced is the addition of a new report for the People Involved, which shows the geographic and demographic data for not only the users who Liked the page, but all the users who engage with your content in some way. Burke says this is important because it helps the business understand that they have reached audiences on Facebook and because of other possible types of audience they want to reach in the future.

Facebook has been testing the new Page Insights interface with a small group of businesses. He plans to expand the group today, but still looking for feedback before it rolls all the changes to Facebook Pages.

By the way, although it took Facebook more than a year-and-a-half pages to update the Insight interface, Burke said, "It will not be long in between udpates and upgrade next time."
