Hi, does anyone know why Facebook do not use captcha's... i thought that they would definitely use one on their signup form to stop them from getting spam or fake accounts... I am building a new site that requires users to signup but i can't decide whether to use a captcha or not... thanks in advance
Because they're smart enough to know that captcha is an impediment to getting users to sign up and, nowadays, is little of a stumbling block to evil-doers.
Ok cool, but do they have any security in place to stop evil-doers creating spam accounts... thanks for your reply...
But they don't have it on the new account form... which is one of the main places I thought this would belong
Captcha is not bulletproof and Recaptcha is owned and hosted by Google which is their competitor so that might be an explanation.
ermmmm, it does appear... quite often when I start to have my new accounts. hmmm, I guess you can try spamming with links and you should be able to see it.
Captcha do appears while signing up.. Even they require phone verification which is major process to keep spammer away
I think you have not used facebook a lot, there is a Captha on facebook but they are displaying that only if you are spamming. In few cases of spamming they also ban you for few days or weeks. If you want to see this then create a fake profile and start adding friends at one limit it will ban you or ask for captcha.
