It's probably stupid to compare search engine with social site.
If you ask "Is this is possible that Facebook took Google first position as Google take it from Yahoo last year"
First position in what?
traffic, UV, PR, ...?
I say Google will remain number 1 for long time, because it's easier to make another Facebook site (even better) than to make another Google SE.
And with all Google products like Chrome, OS, Docs ...... one that all that we need will be 1 site. I hope they will star making clothes soon.

This is a very interesting thought on Facebook and Google. I agree that people spent way more time on Gacebook than Google and both sites serve entirely different purpose. Biggest Social Media Site and biggest Search Engine..

 

Actually I think Google will be the biggest SE in the world for the years ahead, but when it comes to SNS, the chance is very thin.

 

Face book is now the most popular social networking site..
But Gooooooogle is the King !! I dont think Face book cant overtake google. Google is every where in this Virtual Net World. But facebook is just a social networking Site..

Google is the best search engine and Facebook is the best social network.
We can not compare twoi different things together.

 

It's hard to compare, it's like comparing apples or oranges..

 

In general, people go to Google to look for things, people go to Facebook to socialize. So I would expect that Google Adwords would be a lot more successful for selling most types of products and services. But I only advertise on Adwords, not Facebook (ads for software used to be banned on Facebook), so this is just supposition. The one possible advantage of Facebook I can see is that they have better demographic targetting (e.g. by age) than Adwords.

 

Well, this is an interesting question and it's hard to compare them.

However, we have to consider the fact that Facebook and Google are two different services, and of course two different companies. Facebook is a social network, and that's about it. It's true that the site is very popular world wide, and I have noticed that this site gets a lot of FREE promotion in movies and so on. On the other hand, Google's services are more broad. Google is a search engine and service provider. It remains the number 1 search engine in the world, plus they offer a lot of other services, like the most popular advertising system in the world.

Like i said, it's hard to compare them.

 

Facebook can beat Google..... with the help of Chuck Norris. lol.

 

Facebook is not possible to take Google Position as of now. Google is a giant in the Search.

I dont think that Facebook will take Google's position, both the sites are different in their functionality. Google is known as a search engine and Facebook is Social networking site. I am fully agree with you that Google took yahoo's position as both the sites are of same nature and functionality. One thing i must mention here that popularity does not mean replacement.

 

I dont think both sites are necessarily competing with each other, their functions are completely different (though admittedly Google is trying to get into the social networking market). As long as they stay within their own areas, I think we will all continue to use both.

 

well guys all the business is based on google, facebook are 70% fun and etc, but gooogle is more about business.
i never think that fb can beat google.
