Yes, the facebook is going to be banned in India, If there is truth in the news, It will be implemented by the first week of JULY 2012. The govt says, its going to lanuch its own social networking site similar to facebook www.upa-book.gov.in Do you think will it ever succeed in replacing facebook? I am strictly against it, but sad thing there is nothing we can do !!
All I can say is "lol" Proxies were invented for a reason, and maybe they'll ban Google next year and create their own set of sites to make some revenues.

its really a impossible thing. banning the facebook in India will be opposed by number of people in India. and a social networking site by government? lol it's not that easy to implement what they have said in words.

Would be good - less spammers would be on Facebook then... But wait then my female account would be useless... Users from these countries are like a plague on FB - I don't dare to log into my fake account - it's full of Indian spammers Lol.
