Its always interesting to see how a multi-billion dollar business grew to the point that its at now. I guess I might give it a look.
I already plan on going... I don't think it'll be bad. Compared the crap movies that come out every year, it'll be better than most of them.
If I started a billion-dollar business... I would make a movie as well... good or bad I think everyone on DP should see it... we're all webmasters
I have to admit... the movie does look like crap based off of the trailer... it's not the next Avatar... but I'm still interested to see the story.
I'm going to watch it, but only because it seems really dramatic and could be good. I don't believe for a second that the movie is in any way indicative of a real life event, even if it was translated very loosely.
Agree with most. And I heard that they talked to Mark Zuckeburg about it and he said that most of the movie isn't correct and is false so it will be interesting to see how it turns out. For that reason, I might go see it and give it a try.
I haven't seen the movie but know the book its based on. The book for sure takes some liberties with what happened. Unfortunately, the "truth" isn't as entertaining. It isn't about how a multi-billion dollar business got started, its about the drama. That's why shows like the Jersey Shore are the most popular. Not the Discovery channel.
Well i for one will hold my hand up and say i bet its gonna be a huge success! Purely because its facebook. It wouldnt be surprised it if makes the top 10 films of the year as far as gross takings go. Its probably gonna be an okish film, nothing special, but purely on its marketing value as far as the films name goes, its garuenteed to rake in the big bucks figures. Only time will tel, but i think its gonna be up there!
Why should time tell? It's already been pre-screened for critics and people and the feeling of Oscar is already out there. The question isn't if its going to be successful but how successful. It's like after a big murder case someone writes a tell all book about what happens. Then what happens? The book becomes a major knockout! Just because the story was hyped in the media before hand. Facebook has enjoyed much limelight in the past year. Its grown amazingly. But I for one will say that as sharp and fast as it grew, it can easily disappear overnight. Facebook is a phenom but not a phenom because its technologically amazing but because it is so amazingly marketed. Mark my words, when the next thing comes around -- and it will sooner or later -- Facebook will not be around. And the phenom, much like the movie, will disappear with it.
My comment was regarding that it will be in the top 10 grossing films of the year. That is why time should tell! Ive no doubt its going to be successful as you say, just how successfull was where my "time will tell" comment was directed. So im confused as to why you would ask "Why should time tell" and follow with "just how successful", as the answer to that is....................only time will tell. Sorry if i come accross as being pedantic, thats not my intention, perhaps i could have worded my post better the first time round so it was more understandable to read, who knows, but i was just confused why you questioned what I wrote and then basically wrote the same thing in different context. But i do agree with you, facebook wont be around for ever, something better will come along and we will be having similar conversations about the next big thing etc etc. Its merely the circle of life so to speak. Theres always a new and improved something that people will flock to and worship as amazing untill something else comes along and knocks that off the top spot ............and on and on and on goes the cycle. But............dare i say this again...................only time will tell as to when and what it will be!
I'd rather learn the truth, not from a fictionalized movie. Do a search and you'll find out all sorts of things about how he screwed over the people that actually came up with the idea, and hired him to write the code. And that he was later trying to sell off his early users' information. Mark Zucherberg is scumbag.
i might just download it later if it receives good reviews from some listings or blogs. but ifthis is documentary, i'd probably will have a look to it.
