I verified my number with my personal account before. But once I was not receiving the phone verification code for someone else's account so I inserted my phone number to make sure that the network is there and I got the code somehow. So just for experimental purpose I verified my phone number with that account and it got replaced with my personal account. Now I have my own account that's unverified. How do I find which account I used for to verify my own number?
Facebook phone verification is a troublesome option. And what you are facing is more than trouble. You can change your phone no. from the previous one and can set that to your own account.
I don't like the system where you have to verify your phone number, as it remembers it for later and can make it public in some cases. It's to prevent spammers etc, but its still very annoying.
SarahMcCrary - just looking at your profile which says you are in India while you claim to be in NY - makes me think facebook is working well. Down in NZ mobile phone rates are appalling compared to other countries such as Malaysia yet we can buy a SIM for $5 (price of a beer) so if making all those fake accounts is worth your time then its worth buying a few spare sims and allocating one to each account. If its not worth the $ then should you be wasting your valuable time on it?
I would suggest you to go to your own account settings, then add your number so that your account will be verified instead of your friend's account. If problem still persist, please do contact Facebook support.
