Facebook - Opera Discuss Takeover

After its recent purchase of photo sharing platform Instagram, Facebook is behind another major platform that is mobile web browser company Opera. It is currently negotiating a deal with Opera team. The news proved a major booster for Opera, as its share soared up to 20%. in the market. This deal is expected to anywhere over $1 billion to $1.2 billion, taking into consideration competition faced by Facebook from its rival Google who shares a significant relationship with Opera for quite some time now.

Facebook have always been unsuccessful regarding its efforts to convert the traffic generated through mobile platforms into revenue and Opera could just prove a right buy for it. Opera shares a strong relationship with mobile users as has over 170 million Opera Mini users. It is a perfect solution for Facebook, as it will give them an already captured market instead of launching its own platform which could easily be expensive and hard to make popular among mobile users. Let's hope Facebook able to survive the intense pressure from Google over Opera to notch this deal.

If Facebook can take over opera, it will be a big move against Google. Opera mini is a very good platform and it's better if possible to buy instead of introducing a totally new one.
