Facebook newbie - how do I promote my site there?

    Hi, never used facebook, so my questions are basic. Hope somebody can help :)
    Lets say I have Ford Capri discussion forum.
    So what I go to facebook and create:
    a group
    AND
    fanpage
    ?

    Now how do I promote my group and fanpage to people there? How do I get people to join my group?

    And how do I get targetted people to join my group? How do I find people interested in Ford Capri cars to join my group? Search? Post a topic about it on facebook forums and ask to join my group?

    Or any other scheme?

    i would suggest a fan page

    yes you will hve to post the page link around places with similar interest.

    plus when people search for your specific topic they will see your page aswell

    Well you can create a fan page or group so by the help of fan page you can market your site easily.

    I would suggest you to promote your FAN Page via FB advertising.

    If you are willing to spend some bucks, then FB advertising can work wonders for your group and fan page.

    You might have also seen some ads toggling along the corner of the page at FB. These are nothing but FB ads which I'm talking about.

    If you want to try out FB advertsing, you can start off with FB advertising vouchers which can let you to have a free credit upto a definite amount!

    Create a Fan Page (not hard at all!) and invite all of your friends. Hopefully, friends of your friends will become fan....

    Ok everybody suggest FAN page. Why not group? I read some other thread where somebody adviced to create both and interlink each other. Any comments?
    This site of mine I want to promote is non profit site so I am interested only in free ways to promote it

    Defiantly make a fan page, also try and hold events or contests with awards in your status updates. You can increase your traffic to your fan page and maybe make it viral. Good luck!
