Ok, I know this is a super broad topic but I would like to learn more about Facebook marketing and advertising on it. I know Facebook is the hot way to market today.

Now before you all see google it, I know that there are millions of websites that claim to teach how to do it, but I know that a lot of the are scammy type websites, false information or just plain out of date. I would like to know the following:

    1. What are some good places or websites to learn the basics of facebook marketing and advertising

    and

    2. Do any of you have any experience with FB marketing? What are your best tips and tricks?

I am doing this for a local music store and would like to increase foot traffic in the store / get the name out there.

Thanks a lot for your help!

    Hopefully these will help :D

I'd start with creating a relevant (fan) page on the kind of music and accessories that your music store sells. Add some great content and attractive images, and invite your friends and others to like your page.

Follow up with running some Facebook Like campaigns, and keep optimizing them until the price comes way down to just pennies per like, and then run the ads a whole lot more while they're cheap. Once you have a few hundreds (or thousands) of likes, it'll really increase your page's credibility and will make it easier to attract more likes - and more likely for people to take your page seriously.

Also, once you have a bunch of likes, take FB up on their "local marketing" offer that will help attract people in the neighborhood, which would seem perfect for your audience.
