I would like to know how to get the facebook login/ register API / button for a forum so that facebook account owners can also register/ login into the forum using their facebook account . I would really appreciate some help.
first register your self at http://facebook.com/developers it will give you app id and secret key then you can download sample script provided by facebook it has the login and logout thing it good to give a quick start. Regarding api calls you can go through this ref site http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/rest/

hi just looked at the API but i couldn't find where to get the twitter registration / login that would allow twitter users login / register using their account
