Facebook "Like sites" - Are they any good?

    Hello,

I'm thinking about starting a Facebook Like site (site with facebook likes, not a site like facebook), as I a lot of them around.
But before that, I think it's wise asking, what do they make of all this?

I mean, do the ads yield such a big profit or is there any other way of profiting from this type of sites?

The end result in a nutshell is you get viral domain traffic from people aged 13-28 (average). Banner ads and/or affiliate links will earn you some decent cash provided you're able to set your site off the ground. Meaning:

    - Create likes that will appeal to the average Facebook crowd. "I like earning in the stock market!" just won't due
    - Like everything you can, and get your friends to like stuff for you
    - Creating false promises like "Like this to change boring Facebook blue to pink" when you actually can't deliver that will get your site blacklisted, so don't create likes like that, and delete them if someone else does.

    Thank you for your reply.
I have asked about sites like this in the official Google AdSense forum,
and a person replied that they are not allowed due to non-original content.

    Is this true?

Also what other ad publisher networks are there that allow this type of site.

http://smowtion.com/ is one, http://mountainviewclicks.com/ is another.

Regarding your reply on the AdSense forum, that's incorrect. As seen here:

That link is nothing but trademark stuff.

What they said is that the site in general does not have original content:
    They replied this:
I don't know, I'll look into the others.

    BTW: mountainviewclicks is down.

I was actually thinking of starting a new one.
But please do pm me about it.

Any script or coded from scratch? I seen a few pages with the same design. Unless they are owned by the same owner.

I've seen a few that are the same too. I'm thinking of coding something from scratch.
Will I be better off buying a ready script from the buying area?

    Why so much money? :S

    Yea same question. Why?

And I don't know. If your experienced then I'd say make your own. I might buy a script. I just want to know how much you would make in general.

I maintain a free script (see sig), and there are tons of free hosts. In fact, you could easily set something up with $0.

Mind you, free hosts tend to suck.

I'm thinking of getting a proper hosting and a script. I think I can code my own, I have a lot of knoweledge on PHP5, XHTML and CSS.
Giving up to 50$ for a script+hosting is not bad anyway.

    I will check that out.
