I have no idea you guys realise it or not but i recently just received an email from "Facebook Team" (not "Facebook" as what we usually receive if there's any update in your facebook acc) with the title of "acc will be deleted" (actually i have forgotten but it's something like that) In the email it says: Due to some problem happen, they need you to confirm your account using your mobile phone or click the link provided to confirm your account. After clicking the link, you will be brought to your "facebook home page" where you have to key in your email and password. However, if you notice properly, the url is not of facebook but the page looks 100% like facebook!! If you key in your email and pw..there you go~those hacker got your acc and i have no idea what they will do to your acc There's one case actually happened to one of my friend. His acc got hacked and the hacker used his account and send message to all his friends saying that he was stuck somewhere and lost his wallet. So the hacker asked them to bank in money to "his" bank account. Sorry that i can't give you guys any prove or screenshot coz after i noticed it i straight away deleted the email. What a lousy people~ Beware of your account and check the url in the browser address bar every time you log in.
This is an ancient technique, i remember see this back in the aol days. rule of the wise, facebook/myspace/paypal/ebay/etc... will almost never ask you to confirm your login & password through an email. i get these emails on emails accounts that are not even associated with my social networking account
This is not new. I received this kind of fake mails almost everyday sometimes for my social networks websites and sometimes for my banks, and even sometime I received mails from few banks where I do not have any account. The best way to tackle these mails is to simply ignore it.
This is a very old technique and pre-dates FaceBook and even mobile phones. I had a friend who lost his wallet and I got a phone call from someone I didn't know saying my friend had been in an accident in a foreign country and could I send money for their medical bills or they won't be treated. So long as there are people out there then there will be scams like this and they'll keep updating their modus operandi with the latest technology. Be careful out there!
This kind of emails i received from paypal and i didn't fill information. I just forward topaypal and ask about email . This way you cal loose your account So avoid these mails.
I am receiving tons of such emails for my hotmail account. Message is send us your full information including username , password otherwise they will delete your account. 100% scame
One thing that make me curious. How did they make it, like it was sent from facebook team? I mean... look at the sender. It's Facebook... Can anyone kindly to explain it to me? People nowadays is very2 sophisticated....
Ok.... basically they set up their own server and mail system? Like that? Thx for explaining it to this noob. ;D aaaah... no... i already delete it 2 months ago. Now i can't look at it. Thx for the tips. I'll try to look for it next time i received such email.
If they just use friend list for promoting website, it's still ok but just afraid that they will message to your friends asking for $$$!! Btw, never thought that a lot of people's respond is - it's not a new thing. Guess I am old timer yea lol
This happens with many online accounts. I get several hundred emails a day and often see a few of these attempts each week. They must work because people still get them in various forms.
When I was a complete noob, I clicked a link like that from "paypal" It was a horrible virus that attacked my system. I had to pay tech to reinstall windows and I lost everything. That computer never worked properly after that, I ended up having to purchase a a new one. Boy did I learn a lesson...the hard way...
Yea, i should have done the same..copy the url and warn others about this. Anyway, FB will look into this matter and somehow take action on it?
