I'm pretty sure FB keeps track of whose profile you view, because after you repeatedly view someone's profile, their profile will come up as the first/second choice in the search bar autocomplete (even if you don't interact with them much, or at all). The same thing applies to FB chat - c.f. helloimnew's post. FB does explicitly state that no app has access to profile view counts. I certainly hope so, but oh who knows what will happen.
It's probably not going to happen any time soon. Didn't myspace have something like this and it became very popular? I know they at least had a hit counter, not sure if there was a specific hit counter to see who viewed your profile.
First, there are countries that jive with FB in different ways than say the US. In such countries it's legal and usually requested by the government to allow such hacks as profile views on FB for security purposes, or so people like the NSA and Homeland Security claim. With this in mind the apps DO exist, are usually used by scammers, and these countries ARE being hacked. If ran through a proxy in say, Nigeria, you would be able to see ALL content as they're country requested it and FB obliged. I do not care who believes or does not believe this. I just know it for truth from the usual sources. Moreover, it WAS possible to track people on FB ages ago but they keep shutting it down. The code is ALWAYS reported and unless it comes from a valid IP then they hammer it. However Mr. Zuckerburg seems not to care about usage and third party statistics and they are sold VERY often. Why all the secrecy? Would you use FB if you knew for a fact that you were being targeted by any number of people from militant radicals or even Militant advertisers? Doubt it for the usual user. I on the other hand love playing games with these idiots. I actually got a cam to turn on in a Nigerian army base and saw them all as they tried to tell me "THEY" were a woman local to my area. How's that for a hack? I usually work under the axiom of the wisest man says nothing and the fool runs his mouth but this is too big for any one person to hold onto. It won't get me killed, and I am sure it will help others make decisions and lodge formal complaints to Zuckerburg and Corp about the lax foreign policies they have regarding authorities in ours and other nations. And if you think the US government can't watch you, you are SADLY mistaken. Just say BAAAAAAAAAAAAH for me please....lolz.
Unless you are a hacker or a third-party company, there is no way you can do anything like this and not get caught. Knowing who views your account will get you banned and it's not really worth it. Why would one want to do this kind of thing anyway..... nvm.
Well I also believe facebook tracks this feature but does not display it as it will end user privacy I guess . But the thing you are saying also depends on mutual friends , mutual photo tags and maybe a good formula to fix it all up ??
I have tried the link that says who viewed your profile but it does not actually reveal the names only the no. of total views.
@teum - agreed. they'll never post about that sort of stuff. just because you have an account doesn't mean your privacy goes out the window
