I've setup a facebook account up for our business. I started a Fan page but have now discovered that I can only invite friends to become fans, I cannot invite people to be fans if they're not already friends. This kind of sucks, the only way to promote a fan page seems to be via paid advertising. I setup events as a way to invite people, who are not friends, to become fans but this is far from ideal. Has anyone else run up against this issue? So, is it better to start a group rather than a fan page if your trying to raise your business profile? Cheers t
Fan pages are public (you don't need to be logged in) therefore open up an additional range of opportunities, the also allow for greater customization. The big stumbler is 'getting' fans when you cannot easily invite people who are not friends already. Anyone found a way around this? Would still be interested in others experiences of fan pages v's groups. Cheers
Fan page is better than group. The reason is whenever you update or add anything to facebook fan page so it will go to your every friend in form of updates. Ask your friends to suggest your page to their friends so by the help of thing people will increase faster.
For business is Fan page better than group. Every pro business websites has facebook page for marketing, etc.,
if you had a group then also you could not invite other than your friends, but page is better than Group, but it is harder to get people in page than Group one thing you can do is post your page link in different facebook group which is related ti your page/group with some facebook accounts
I have a question relating to the topic though not about fan vs group. I can't see where to create a fan page. Does this have to do with the kind of account i have? Is it for business account only? thanks.
please note that facebook accounts used for buisness are a violation of the tos (and facebook likely is going to start to go through them soon). as for promotion - you can promote your site by ads to people not yet member, but also you can do the usual stuff - if you have opted in email addresses, why not use a newsletter with them? if you have good content, people are going to be coming anyhow if you spread it, if you want to sell something and just promote the hel of it, this does not work in fb either.
I will go with a Facebook Page. It has more features, it is public, plus you can add a Facebook Fan Box widget to your website's home page. You can also add applications to a Facebook Page. The Notes tab for a Facebook Page has an RSS feed.
Here's a good writeup about the facebook pages vs groups dilemma. I personally don't care for FB groups...pages seem to get much more attention. Groups need constant interaction or they will get buried quickly.
Fan pages seem to be the wave of the future. I would go with fan pages because you can do more with them to promote your content, and they're public facing, where I don't believe groups are.
A Facebook Page has more features than a Facebook Group. A Facebook Page is used for marketing your products and/or services. You can add a Facebook Page Fan Box widget on your website's home page or one of its pages. For an example of how it is used, check out my company's Facebook Page at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/...-Outsourcing-Services-Philippines/95424437814 and how a Facebook Fan Box widget is implemented at http://www.myndconsulting.com/about.html.
