0.03-0.10% CTR , lame review team who declines 90% of the ads you create even if they are following the exact guidelines., and some more issues. Maybe, i guess maybe one day when they automate the system it might get better. Though for a social networking site the CTR really sucks but you have to consider people coming there not too look for stuff but to talk with people they already know.
I am not sure you need to check the ToS, and at the same time their ToS is so broad , its disgusting .
Yeah, it's definitely better for targeting specific demographics. I find that it's worse for selling things.
The advantage of Facebook is that you can target who will see you advertisement. With Google, you can only guess who is searching for a keyword, that is all. In the end Google will be probably forced to focus their advertisement much better than today.
I just wanted to follow up on this thread after some weeks of letting things roll. It might be my niche but whatever the reason I am now completely convinced Facebook blows AdWords out of the water. My sign ups are holding at 10 times the rate than I ever got with Google AdWords. New Members in the Philippines keeping telling me Facebook is where they found me so I know the ad is working. Something else, I was able to drop my amount per click on Facebook down to the same low amount I paid using AdWords and the results are the same. They spend my daily budget, I am getting more traffic, and the sign up rate is still amazing. Since I only need $3 a day now for my lady ad in the Philippines with the lower amount per click, I started running a small guy's ad in western countries that will show the ad for what I am willing to pay. I might even get a few guys and still keep my advertising budget under $5 a day. Just started the guy ad so we will see how it works. Thanks.
Yeah, I think it's your niche. As far as demographic targeting goes (which is totally what you want), nothing can really touch facebook, simply because it has that info on its users. Google can't really do this, so for the dating niche, or anything with strict demographics I think Facebook probably is the way forward. Having said that, Adwords works A LOT better for general businesses - I'm in travel and I have to say that Facebook really can't compete
I found facebook is also really good if you are paying for impressions! You can get 60,000 impressions for as little as $5!
