Heh, some people (especially kids) think they'll get legal advice when searching
    a forum involving "legal issues".

You are using their trademark in your domain, that is copyright infringement. I would verify it's really from them and if it is, do exactly what they ask..if they want the domain transfer it to them hands down because a $10 registration fee is cheaper than the lawyer fee's you will end up getting stuck with.

you'll lose for sure. only way to win is to prove the name is original and has nothing to do with facebook. you can't use a company's name in your name - like if you were reselling Gucci handbags, you can't call your company GucciForCheap or "We Sell Gucci". If you were instead selling some paintings by someone called Gucci you could have a case in calling yourself GucciPaintings.

likely you'll lose shouldn't use a company name in your domain.

Wow--that is really a shame--just went to your site--look cool. Unfortunately, I do think, if the email is legit, the are in the right. Had a friend using Facebook(hername).com and she got a similar letter. She was redirecting to her profile page.

    Good luck with it!

    IGNORE IT!

They won't do anything, just made sure you have a notice on your site - Saying that you are not sponsored or endorsed by facebook, and that none of your site is run by facebook. You will be fine, trust me

First, the problem is resolved if you bothered to read the post before yours. Second, the advice you are giving is horrible. Third, please don't make more idiotic posts like this one in the legal section.

Give a call to Facebook office

Get Transferred to the Person whos name is on the email.
If there is no name, tell the receptionist to transfer to any legal expert from office.

Speak to him and ask him if the Email is legit? If it is, do the needful.

Take down the domain - let it go. End of story.
But the OP has resolved the issue I guess.

Bigbody300, you might want to ask a mod to lock this thread. Some folks are
seemingly too damn lazy to read before posting.

Show's over also, folks. Move along.

Good for you if you're right, FavouritesBlog. If the OP did what you
said and turned out wrong, what are you prepared to do for him?

Then again, why should the OP trust an online stranger who knows
little to nothing about him or his situation? Especially if that user
has little to nothing to lose from being potentially incorrect?

Yes, but this is a legal issue, so your Facebook experience is useless.

Feel free to offer shitty legal advice again - some people get red repped for repeatedly giving bad advice.

Unfortunately that "bullcrap" is the real deal.

Facebook technically does own the word Facebook as it is a trademarked term, and use of it in a domain name and such infringes upon copyright law.

Sounds like something of an ordeal. It's always risky to buy a domain with a trademark in it.

ROFL..... great stuff. I've done hearings for this kind of thing. Sometimes you can make an amicable agreement so they don't have to prosecute you and you'll be able to better move to another domain. Can you handle such a conversation? I don't know. I do know you'll very likely lose shoudl you go the long route.

interesting, i thought as long as it wasn't registered, then you can use it for whatever you want?
