Hello. When I sign into Facebook, the chat window is maximized so I click the blue bar to minimize it. However, when I sign out and sign back in, the chat window is maximized again. Is there a way to ‘minimize’ it once and keep it minimized, regardless if I am signed in or not? Sarah
Hello. Thank you for the prompt reply to my post. No, there is no 'hide sidebar' option under the Gear icon. The blue bar minimizes it when it is maximized but it does not stay minimized.
The options are under the Gear icon are: Collapse All Chat Tabs, Close All Chat Tabs, Hide Groups, Turn Off Active Status, Turn Off Video/Voice Calls, and Turn Off Post Tabs.
I could just click the blue bar to minimize the chat window each time I sign in but surely it can stay minimized!
That's interesting. When I open my chat there's no blue bar. I can only minimize it via the Options. It's possible that different FB settings, different devices show it and what is under the Options differently.
When I sign in, the Chat Window is maximized (in the lower right corner) and I see: My Chat Contact List, Group Conversations, and Create New Group. I also see the 'New Message,' Create New Group,' and 'Options' icons on the right side and the blue bar to the left of these icons. Clicking the blue bar at the top of the Chat Window minimizes it but it is maximized again when signing back in. My question is not 'how' to minimize the Chat Window but instead of how to 'keep' the Chat Window minimized upon signing out and signing back in again.
I use Firefox and Opera and the issue occurs with both browsers. Note that I am accessing Facebook through a Windows 7 PC, not a laptop or mobile device.
