facebook as a business imperative?

I'm trying to build out a service site and don't think I really need to use Facebook to launch my site...or do I? Nowadays, is Facebook a necessity, like Adwords or organic search, where you have to market there as a critical business channel?

Also, does anyone have thoughts on ads on Facebook?

    Thanks,

I've avoided social media for a VERY long time, but a few months ago I tried it and today I'm addicted. My blog is not a business and I have no desire to make any money from it, but having a presence in social media, especially, facebook, has done wonders for my little nickel and dime site.

If I were you, I'd set up a fan page for your site. You'll discover very quickly the potential.

    Best of luck!

you can use facebook to publicise your site by:
    1:facebook cpc or cpm adverts
2:fan pages which also adds to your publicity
3:connect to like minded business partners
