What should be considered if you want your application to rank high in the Facebook Application Directory. I have searched the net but can't find any information about this. Surely there must be some factors that influence where an app is ranked when you search the directory. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks
Yes. You notice Zanga is #1 under games? It's all about popularity & relevancy combined. Facebook will push your listing to the top of a app directory if your app is very popular and relevant to the terms or category searched under.
For my search term some apps come up with nearly no users and no reviews. Then my is on the second page with more users and great reviews. Some apps below me have a lot more users than I have. It almost seems like there is no order to this. If you just go under the games section in the app directory the rankings there makes sense but as soon as you search there is no order at all. Here is a good example: 1. Go to the application directory here: http://www.facebook.com/apps/directory.php 2. Now search for: bejeweled Look at the 3rd result in the list. Now check some of the games below it. The second last on of the first page has MANY users but ranks lower. There is no order here.
