[I posted this on another forum but didn't get much feedback, hopefully here I will]

I've been recently looking into Viral Content and some suggestions have been 'create a facebook app'. I heard from Rand (SEOMoz) say that creating an app is sometimes a hit or a miss.

I have a few solid ideas on creating an app for Facebook (hey, myspace has them now too!). The more I consider the time and cost, I'm not too sure this is worth it all.

Some of the applications I have in mind will easily benefit Facebook and Myspace (most-likely facebook more). But I doubt it will benefit me as much as I'm hoping and I doubt people would chat up a storm (through blog-a-sphere) about an application created.

Has anyone done one before? What type of app did you create (game, survey, other)? How successful/unsuccessful was your campaign? Was it worth the time and money? Would you do it again? Did this exceed your expectations or after a few days were you like this > <?

Does anyone have any real-life experience? Thanks for taking the time to reply.

well to be honest i'm thinking the same. Like i'm comfortable with digg and stumbleupon and other social networks but i can not figure out how to get boost through facebook.

creating FB application seems a solution but then you spend your time to mass spread this application ???

well i'm thinking to hire any freelancer to do this job. it saves cost and time (I think).

but i really like to know others ideas on how to bring traffic from facebook (which i cannot figure out yet)
