Facebook and iPhone apps

I know cost to develop apps for Facebook and iPhone depends on the complexity of a project. However, would anyone be able to provide a rough estimate of how much it would cost to build a small to medium size app?

I would greatly appreciate any inputs on complexity and the cost of developing and maintaining Facebook and iPhone apps at small to medium scale.
