Facebook Ads Will be Dead Eventually...

This is my own opinion - so go ahead and bash away. I know at times we all will disagree & that's why I love to have healthy debates.

My view is that FB ads will not be popular by IM ppl. Why? FB is not a search website. The average person gets on FB to post their opinions or upload pics/vids...not to search. They go to a search engine for that.

I've studied and experimented w/ FB ads and my CTR was less than 1%. I'm not the only one. I've talked to other IM or SEO ppl and they are saying the same thing. The best I've heard is 3% from a couple of ppl.

I'm predicting that ppl will move back to Adwords (they really never left) and forget about FB ads. If your doing good w/ FB ads - hey, great - but I really believe that you are in the minority.

You're not working for google, are you? :)
I agree FB ads is not that popular compared to adwords. However, FB ads offer much more precise targeted audience compared to other PPC providers.
By the way, the rich is the minority in this world.

To the OP: Oh..Then you just have to adjust your marketing tactic specifically on facebook! Remember facebook is a social website not a search engine..But one thing that keep it good to advertise is the targeting which could give you a high yield if you target the right interest...and that's why facebook have the feature to create your own page and you can use that for your products.

I never really liked the concept of PAYING for traffic anyway. I must say that when it comes to paid traffic generation tactics I am almost a total noob :D. I can generate a lot of CONVERTING free traffic but paid - I don't think so.

Well, my opinion is that FB ads won't be dead. I mean search engine PPC marketing was changing and adapting over years, so will FB ads as well. The fact that there are people actually MAKING money with FB ads by pure arbitrage model (earning more than they spend) makes me believe that FB ads won't fade.

Remember, there were also nay-sayers who were predicting search PPC model will fade, but it's still here and there are people making money with it.

I agree that FaceBook will not be a top ad-network in the long run. I believe the strongest factor is simply that FaceBook only runs their ad-network on their own site, which judging from social media trends will not be the "top dog" forever. At some point in time they will begin to fade away, and if you don't believe me simply look at MySpace and Yahoo. At one point in time both sites were "huge", people argued they would simply never lose that traffic.

I think that for now the right FaceBook advertisers are doing good business. When the "next big thing" comes along they will move shop. Will the social ad-network concept ever fade? Only when something better comes to replace it.

Forum marketing - building reputation profiles on forums and getting new leads by means of signature or profile links
Article marketing - targeting longer, relevant phrases on Google and generating a steady flow of set-&-forget traffic
Video marketing - posting videos on YouTube only, optimizing titles, tags and also ranking in Google
Web 2.0 - similar methodology as article marketing
social bookmarking - primarily for backlinks, but they often give me direct traffic too

It takes some work, but hey, there is no money growing on trees, you have to go, reach out and grab some for yourself.

My FB cost/conversion has increased almost 5x over the last year. We started spending more as the audience grew but the conversions just aren't happening at the same rate. Probably finally killing the campaign this week, but still trying to see if there is some indirect conversion support it is offering that I am not seeing on the surface.

Facebook Ads are for a totally different type of marketing. They wont get you as many clicks as Adwrods but they might get you much more customers than adwords depending upon the nature of your product.

I don't know what you guys talking about... I ran some ads from facebook ads and got over 60,000 "Actions" from over 100,000 "Clicks" From facebook Ads... I'm no super GURU or worked magical tricks I just used common sense. I had an amazing click through rate... $200 worth of ads for 60,000-100,000 actions/clicks is not bad... I made that money back easily.

Let's Braintorm: Facebook collects more data on individuals than we can imagine... Right! Facebook returns search results for Bing. Bing and Yahoo merged, but are still no match for Google. Facebook is Google's only real threat at the present time. Do the math! FB is merely testing the waters with ads, and you can expect a major deal in the future between Bing and Facebook. Then, they'll try to make a stand against Google.

    Speaking Hypothetically!

facebook advertising is already saturated, its almost impossible to make over 4k a day now, it was wayyyy higher than that at the beginning and now it costs way more. so all in all, i say its dead already

Yes, that's the key. Facebook, by it's very nature, knows a lot of things about it users and that information is very valuable to advertisers.

Good points. But I think FB ads' death won't happen anytime soon. It might not be a search engine, but there are millions of addicts who use FB on a regular basis. Many advertisers still opt to promote their sites in FB.
