So have you noticed FB targeting you with ads that you didn't quite expect?

That is did you notice Facebook targeting you with ads that seem to be connected to your bahaviour off of FB?

Shawn/digitalpoint made a really cool "Cookie search engine" and posted about it here

and discussion got a bit off track thanks to myself and Blogmaster, so I thought it best to start a new thread on the subject of FB ads targeting.

I rarely go on Facebook so it's a little more obvious to me than others might notice, but have you found FB targeting ads your way that you think is connected to what you have been up to online but not on Facebook?

Actually, I've noticed Facebook inundating my personal Facebook account with ads of something that I have a membership with but have never liked via my personal Facebook account. The funny thing is, I haven't been to that site in over a year now. I'm still trying to figure that out. To answer your question, absolutely.

I am getting strange friend suggestions from Facebook. People with no friends or pages liked in common. Some are even brandnew accounts. A couple of those people I accepted when they requested me out of curiosity. Turns out me and them are either members of the same forums (not webmaster related) or visit similar types of sites.

As to ads: I don't see any matches other than internet marketing related which tells me little as half of the people on my profile are internet marketers, so whether or not me visiting marketing sites has an impact or not, I cannot say.

Facebook has strong network for targeting users. Many things are included. You can target special pages users, age bar, male or female and many more. Things thing look more reals and more relevant. I like the way of facebook. I noticed this thing. Thanks Revelation Decoder for starting thread. But i am not getting any friend suggestions.

It amazes me how facebook can create a history or profile of yourself in the way you navigate from one site to another site.

I've noticed this, ads are showing based on what I Google, today I had SEO ads showing directly after searching for SEO Spyglass off FB.
