How do you decide which bidding strategy is better? I've come across people who recommend CPC while others recommend CPM. I want to better understand the merits and demerits of both and how to choose which works better.

If you are just starting out, I'd recommend you go for CPC.
You only get to spend when people click on your link.

CPM has also got it's merits depending on what you are
advertising. If it's a brand name, very good. You just
want more exposure for the product.

I want to assume you just want to send the clicks to
your opt in page. CPC would work better.

You only pay for generated clicks, and if you target right
you'd be spending just a couple of pennies per click.

CPC is way to go if you have no idea on your CTRs. CPM only helps when you have high CTR and you are able sustain it.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the replies. Yes I want to send clicks to my opt in page. Is it a smart thing to switch to CPM if my CTR is good? I read that the average CPC drops when you do that.
