Yes, as long you use it to draw traffic to your web page and not to a "Facebook page".

Yes, Facebook advertising allows you to target some very specific demographics target for your ads – and that’s exactly what you should do. There’s no point in advertising roller blades to grandmas in Chili etc.

Very good point. You don't think it's even worth it to get real "likes" on your page?

I talk about Ads on Facebook per click and FB Facebook itself suggests how much you should bid per click

I believe it's effective if you have a targeted audience and you are in dire need of quick traffic to your website. Like in our case, we targeted different Southeast Asian nations to participate in our survey.

I have tried Facebook Ads once and it was a total waste of £7. However I realise that I could have targeted the people who would see my ad a lot better than I did so I was partly to blame. I may well try it again in the new year though I may get some help with it.

The most appropriate way to make Facebook ads is to pay per click, NOT pay-per-view. Here's something that might be interesting for the audience - the way to view private Facebook profiles: http://www.faceves.com/
and they promise success in 80 % of cases.

Good point. Which is more cost-effective, cost per thousand impression or cost per click? Or both? :)

That depends on your content. If you just have a lead page, you are just wasting everybody's time.
But if you bring a good value that will be in some way useful or entertaining to your targeted audience, it will be deeply rewarding, especially long term.
Shoveling donuts on visitors throat is becoming really annoying, and I personally don't stay longer than 2 seconds on a page that only tries to sell me something. The only exception is when I personally search for "best donuts shops".

I am using Facebook Ads to promote content and some affiliate products. Got some good sales conversion and good traffic. Some of them whose visit your website will share it on FB.

Yes it is! PPC has always been a good source of traffic along with SEO. I mean, any platform of PPC, may it be Facebook, Adwords or Bing, it would always be worth it. But of course, if you just know how to use it properly and effectively.

I have tried Facebooks ads in the past. The way they have it set up looks great...you can narrow your target audience very specifically.
However, 90% of the impressions I received were fake and I was getting charged. I hear more and more people complaining about this. I see a huge class-action lawsuit in their future.

You could somehow filter it's demographics?
