    I am wondering to know having more like or google+ numbers has anything to do with google PR from purely SEO standpoint?

    Yes it does. Social signals like Google+, Facebook like etc have an impact in SEO. Another thing is, if your site is liked or shared by many people, that builds confidence in your visitors mind, that the content of the site is trusted and liked by people, so there is a sheer possibility that he / she will also do that.
