I've looked at about a dozen or more pages that should have backlinks, both my own articles and in the most viewed section and it shows zero links, and zero PR. Does this mean that it doesn't make sense to backlink them anymore? Seems to have zero value other than a single backlink anymore. Thanks
Your first problem is that you use ezine, they think they are God now and have ridiculous rules in place. I'm not sure but they probably found a way to hide the links so people will stop using them for just that purpose.
Sorry didn't explain it clearly. I meant the backlinks to the articles themselves. In other words after the article is accepted you create backlinks TO the article on the ezinearticles.com domain. In the past getting in the "most viewed", "most published", etc. section got you thousands of links and PR, now those articles shows 0 links and PR. Even the links that I backlinked to the articles don't show up.
are you referring to the links in the bio? If so I have published 13 articles last week on ezine and they all have shown up and the backlinks show up too when I search.
Not the backlinks to your site, but creating backlinks to the published article on the ezinearticles domain. Thanks
Anyways, ezine have become a bunch of joke of late, this happens to all those article directories, they need articles to become famous and once they do become famous then they conveniently forget the guys who have made them famous (people like us who have burnt our eyes and fingers to put content) and make rules so strict that we will not be able to ever get an article approved their, as they will need good content and i have seen this happening 'n' number of times with many article directories, few exceptions would be of course articlesbase, goarticles etc, they seems to have stuck to what they believed in. This happens when the business forgets their target market and moves on to newer patches, but what they forget is if the newer patch dont respond well, then they have to come back to the old targeted market and they will find their are new leaders out their already, so the struggle starts back again and i am waiting for that day.
I did notice this... in another forum. The most plausible explanation given from another forum member was that the URL's of the articles use question marks which indicates that is a dynamic content and even tho Google indexes dynamic content URLs it seems that it doesn't count backlinks to dynamic content URLs (huh..). And if that is the case, it would make sense to build links to the proper URL and not to the one that is displayed / shown in the URL bar. I will just make a test about this one within the next days and see how it works..
Yeah, I think it must have been the same forum But it doesn't display with the shortened URL as well. Before the backlinks displayed even with the ? in the URL. The PR has disappeared as well. A popular technique about a year or two ago was to send all your profile links, social bookmarks, etc. to the ezine article rather than having thousands of links pointing directly to your website. Now all those links that I've been building the past few months don't appear Thanks
I guess they have evolved as well and knows what article marketers are doing to promote their links. We may find it OK but maybe they don't. I completely agree with COBSolutions. maybe its about time to find other directories to use.
You mean like following in eBay's footsteps? They're probably doing it to stop the abuse in the "Most viewed" section (PPC advertising) But gee, stopping the backlinks to THEIR domain? Thanks
Why are you depending too much on ezine?, they've become famous because they're always being crawled by search engines but lately they just enforce bunch of rules and if your promoting your article in ezine I guess you shouldn't worry too much about it. Worry about your website first more than your article in ezine.
I think Ezine is doing good for me. I mean a back link is a backlink and an article backlink is very long term. I don't really think its a great idea to depend on article directories substantially for traffic anyways.
