ezinearticles.com - looks more hype than substance to me

I checked out that site as lot of DP members recommended it. I didnt really got why is that site so popular.. It has an alexa traffic rank of around 250, and suprisingly, its most viewed artcles hardly had any comment(s) on them. I myself checked out a few categories, and it was true for all.

Now how odd is that ? A site which has nothing to offer but content, a site that gets millions of visitors per month, and its most viewed articles have either one or two comments maximum.. some had none at all ! So I was wondering, what kind of traffic do they get ?

    Anyone else noticed this ?

It surely is very popular, and I am not questioning its usefulness either. Its just that I observed certain things that can be called unusual about it.

Also, it seems that there are not many ways to get noticed there, the most popular one being writing more and more articles so that you get featured in their 'Top Author in a particular category' which again is based on number of articles that one has written, irrespective of their quality.

Yeah, some may call that all of their articles are standard, but honestly, the catogories i browsed (for sincerely finding useful information), sadly ended in those salesman type of articles.. that for me, is bad writing

I don't think it's fair to assess their traffic based on how many comments a few articles get. It isn't a social networking site and I don't see any reason for them to encourage comments.
