For the last few days, ezinearticles.com has had the same 'recent articles' on the home page ('Wind turbines'...) I'm wondering whether the bloke who runs it has finally realised that his directory is full of badly written spam, and he should go back to McDonalds.
For a while i would see ezinearticles on the first few pages of a lot of google results, haven't seen them for a while now for anything. Personally i could never read stuff on that ghetto white layout surrounded by 20 ads with 1 out of every 2or3 articles being spun. Good riddence.
Haha! Wow, I hadn't even noticed. EzineArticles' quality has been questionable from the start, I'll agree. I think I only have one article up there, and it's only brought 2 visitors. Don't know if it's helping my ranking at all in Google due to the backlink, but I doubt it. I've all but given up on submitting articles in such directories nowadays, and prefer to just post them on my own blogs instead.
For them not to change the 'latest articles' for several days is unusual, to say the least. They DID seem to be trying to raise their quality control standards on the back of Google's slap, but results, as they say, were mixed...
Most of the ezine articles are a summarized re-written version of Wikipedia. They do still come up in search results, but I assume people have gotten lot more smarter and they do not read those articles anymore.
The site may be back but it's been slammed hard by Google's Panda update. Good, it's full of crap content.
I read somewhere that ezine had been labeled as a "content farm" by google. A lot of online empires suffered considerable damage in that same shake up.
They suffered the wrath of Panda. Because they lowered their editorial standards (allowing badly spun crap in there) most of their stuff will no longer pass Google. Which is a shame when you realise that the entire point of that same material is pretty much to solely pass Google.
They did lose a lot of search engine traffic last march when the latest Panda update happened, however I think placing an article ot two on there every once in a while is still a good idea. I have several websites and I still get traffic from my Ezine articles. I am a platinum author there and I he had good results with Ezine articles. I don't put anything but original, well researched articles on there. I agree that they are not the directory they used to be and it is because they had a lot of junk on their site. Google is actually trying to make the Internet experience for everyone a lot better. I know myself that I hate researching the web and find the same, almost identical information on several sites. You know it was just copied and pasted! As writers, just turn in the best work you can and it will pay off for you.
I am just getting into article submissions and I was under the impression that ezinearticles.com was one of the best directories to submit your articles to. If it isn't, which directories are worth using?
Lol the original post made me laugh. I used to post articles on Ezine a lot until I started seeing the other garbage that was on there. I'm still apparently a platinum author on there but apart from the nice coffee mug and mouse pad they sent me, their site has been no good for my business. I'd have been happier if I ran a brick and mortar coffee shop - at least I'd have saved myself 50p on a cup!
I haven't had much luck with ezine articles either. I did use Snipsly for fast indexing though - just a short article did the trick!
If EzineArticles disappears, I'll have a double shot of black absinthe (disgusting) tonight to toast its demise.
