In my marketing efforts one thing I do is submit set of articles to EzineArticles of around 10 to 20 articles. Most of these articles are set up to gain a high PR. Once my articles are accepted they get a large amount of traffic and views within the first 36 hrs and then the traffic literally stops. This happens for several different niches. I was just wondering if this happends to anyone and if anyone knows why this happens and if anyone knows a way to fix it? I know they post new articles on the front page when they are accepted, Is that where all the traffic is comming from?
Grouse is right, article marketing is BEST when your the first person to use the main long tail keywords such as "how to get your ex back" Another thing is that just because you have a unique title to your article, it doesn't mean it will get searches even though it has a high PR which is by default because its on EZ. The best way to use article marketing is to just pump them out continuously, now who said traffic is easy if your not the first to get the main keyword. Video marketing is probably better than article marketing (I think) the better your video the more views you get the more traffic you get and it won't get pushed down over time. You can have the best article on ezine but it will eventually get pushed down.
Advertising on Ezine is a big joke now a days. There's a ton of other "modern" ways and methods to make money, and you have to go where the BIG FISH hang out. I'm talking about media buying, etc.
Article marketing still works, but yes traffic will slow down after your article has been approved. Once the article is off the homepage or off the front page for a specific category traffic will generally slow down quite a bit. However, If you can target long-tailed keyword phrases that have a decent amount of search volume then you can continue to see good traffic to articles for months to come.
The traffic may die but they will still all contain valuable links back to your site with your chosen anchor text with helps with SEO, so it will convert into SE visitors later on
You can bring your ezinearticles back to life if you get some good quality backlinks linking back to your articles. If you build backlinks to your articles some of them can end up in the top list of articles for your keyword, and then that will bring you huge traffic. So nurse your ezinearticles along a little with some backlinks and see if your traffic improves. Dan
dangregory would you use socialbookmarking for those backlinks??? I am fairly new to IM and have seen lots of info promoting article marketing. What are some other ways to make it work? What other methods work well without the ppc danger of spending more than you make??? If you are in need of training NPC is one of the best I have seen. I don't like subscriptions but they give a lot at their site. You could probably get through most of it in 1 month. You can check it out by copying and pasting this: https://imi.infusionsoft.com/go/npc/a5387/ Also take a look at dangregory's link ... interesting report Thanks and Best 2 U, Leiif
I never had a huge surge in traffic from ezine despite having 50 live articles. It depends a lot on the type of niche, the title chosen and the length of the article. You should write the article in such a way that the visitors are compelled to visit your site. Apart from the traffic, you get do follow backlinks from ezine along with links from publishers who use your articles...
Absolutely, good titles, along with a steady stream of good articles in general, and you wont notice spikes so much. Also I have had some luck with posting articles to less common categories. Just not nearly as much competition, and the articles stay towards the front for a long time.
Hey, this is what my next step was and even my next question. Do you have any experience getting articles higher in PR by getting them backlinks? Does it work?
with in 36 hours people view your article because ezine list every new accepted article on the front page but, after that all your traffic will come via search. to get continuous traffic you have to chose the good keywords, the keywords which have a low competition. If you choose the keyword which is highly competitive then your article will be buried.
Depends on how often your article title is searched for and how high up it comes on front page of Google. Take this phrase 'printable homework sheets' my article comes up second in UK search (ok, there is not much competition for this phrase with only 30,100 results) BUT, according to Clickthru stats on Ezinearticles, I have had 866 clicks to my site since November - so thats quite a good saving if I was using adwords. Do some keyword reasearch on your article titles before you write an article.
article marketing is far harder than it used to be. Basically, you need to make an article unique each time you submit it somewhere, or the search engines will discount it as duplicate content wherever they find it. It doesnt really do you any good to have the exact same article up on 300 article zine sites anymore.
Nice idea!! I think of article placement is a subset of the broader subject of press relations (which includes press releases, award entries etc etc) and you have to think about all things press as being very temporary, therefore you need to be constantly producing new current and relevant material. Some stop publications allow commnets on articles, but often for only a few hours, so use Google Alerts to tell you when there's a relevant post, and writ a relevant comment really quickly. On occasions I've mailed the link with my comment round to a few people, that have then written a tweet, which has caused a comment storm. Don't forget award entries. These can be very, very good quality links if you win.
I've been using article marketing for a while now. I think it is a reasonable avenue to take if you are looking for something to do and don't have any money to invest. However, I've rarely seen a huge amount of traffic come as a direct result of it. Most of the times, articles that have good unique titles that people are actually searching for will bring in a consistent amount, but usually the number is fairly low. The good part is that if your articles are on topic all traffic you receive from it is targeted. However, do not think that your traffic is going to boost from 0 Uniques to 100 and stay there from a single article. Most of the time, from my experience, you might get 5-10 uniques from a single article per month.
