Has anyone else noticed most forum posts do not get indexed other than the title of the thread and perhaps that same page? If you look at most results in Google and a forum comes up chances are the question/title thread pops up along with things from that first page. So...with this new knowledge armed, is it a waste of time to post on pages 2-? if your goal is backlinks and not direct traffic? If you don't think this to be true just watch how many Yahoo answers comes up in Google results. The answer is they come up a lot and the reason is because both the question and answer get indexed on the same page making it more relevant. Go to page 35 of a 66 page thread and randomly type in some of the posters text....guarantee 90% of the time nothing comes up in Google....if it's past page one it has a better chance of being invisible. *Note* There are some exceptions but the thread is probably extremely heavy linked to with pr. Test this out and let me know if page one is the only thing being posted on.
Regardless if it's indexed or not you shouldn't be posting to boost your backlinks but to provide help. I actually despise people who do this, they fill threads with useless or invalid information or repeat the same thing that has already been said. </rant>
oh plz stfu with this moral stance...there is nothing even remotely immoral or black hat in my analysis and it is very credible. Many people do post just for backlinks...I'm not one of them *I don't use a sig link* IF you want backlinks or to be rewarded for your posts than you better either make the thread or post before it gets to the second page. I'm surprised more people aren't interested in this actually.
