There have been some horrific crimes lately, and i don't know about you, but I'd like to get my hands on a couple.
And do to them what they have done, to infants and the elderly makes my blood boil.
Jailing them is too easy for them!!

I think you win for the most vague and general post that I've seen all day.

I agree entirely although I suspect things aren't as bad in Australia as they are here in the UK. Over here the legal system is a farce and punishment too lenient to act as a deterrent. There's too much emphasis on rehabilitation instead of retribution and reparation where it should be.

I'm just saying that jailing is too good for cockroaches who put infants in clothes dryers, rape eighty year old women, or throw newborns against walls

I just didn't want to be too graphic, but now i guess i am...

Well we got to respect the rule of law but I hope those in the government can come up with new laws that will give harsher punishments to people who commit heinous crimes.

Yeah, but that's just such a pointless thing to say. There has always been crime and there will always be crime. Even if a truly crime-free utopia is possible, I don't think anybody who's alive currently will ever even get close to seeing it. In an equation that involves a significant amount of people (such as the population of a country or planet), there will always be good people and bad people.

In fact, on that topic, let me show you one of my favorite quotes by Viktor Frankl (he intimately knew of the horror that man can create, much more than any of us...unless there happens to be a Holocaust survivor in DP's ranks):
"...there are two races of men in this world, but only these two---the 'race' of the decent man and the 'race' of the indecent man. Both are found everywhere; they penetrate into all groups of society. No group consists entirely of decent or indecent people. In this sense, no group is of 'pure race'..."

Yeah.. and I'm pretty dam sure if those who commit the crimes knew they were going to get the same thing done to them there wouldn't be so much of it!!!!!

So you're saying that if somebody gets caught robbing a house, law enforcement should go rob their house?

I'm not so sure that would help either. People that commit crimes like this, either think they won't get caught, or they don't care. In either case, they would commit the same crimes no matter what the punishment.

I don t think it is vague nor pointless......as we are inGENERAL CHAT every one is able to express what is on there mind. However if u feel this is pointless I see you have come back quite a few times to have your opinion:confused:

I think it is valid! Where are the morals of half of the criminals and it is quite disgraceful and disgusting the way they are let off half the time for the harshest crimes.. I know if my grandmother was raped at 80 whilst sleeping in her bed I would literally want to kill the a**hole who done it!!

So lets see when put in jail if he gets his - AN EYE FOR AN EYE....

In ancient China, there was a punishment that a guy's hand, leg, lounge got cut off. Then they poke his eye and ear. After that he was put in a big jar and people keep feeding him to keep him alive. Do you think that's enough?

I have already explained why I think it is both vague and pointless. You fault me for coming back and voicing my opinion in something that I claimed was pointless and, while it is a nice try to catch me in my own logic, it fails to do so. I came back to emphasize and explain my point of view (which happens to be that the original post in this thread is vague and pointless) as is the raison d'être of forums in the first place.

I'm not arguing that it is not a valid concept. So is something like "I wish smoking didn't cause cancer so I could smoke all I want and not worry about it" but that is also entirely pointless. The fact is that smoking does cause cancer and the fact is there are a lot of bad people in the world. That's how it is.

And as far as your grandmother, I think whoever rapes her will have gone through enough punishment already (and I don't mean that just about your grandmother...I think it is true for about all grandmothers). ;)

Cutting off someones lounge is pretty harsh, especially if he entertains quite a bit. Moe used to poke Curly in the eye and ear and it never stopped him from screwing up.

Where the heck would we find jars that big?

Give this some more thought man! [IMG]

if you put someone in jail for the rest of his live in a cell with no contact with anyone and not having the chance of suicide that person will suffer a lot more than for ex. spending 1y in jail and being executed.

Yes but the cost of execution is significantly less than keeping a scumbag confined for life.
