Extreme Noob Looking for a Little Insight

So I've just learned about this site, and while I'm certain I could find every bit of info I'd need, the fact is there's just too much to wade through haha. Truth is, I'm just hoping I could be pointed to the most comprehensive spots to help with my needs.

With school coming up in the fall, I'm in serious need of increasing my meager income about $500 a month. Granted, I don't expect all that from eandeavors such as adsense. In reality, ANY income I can generate can only help. So the big question is, how do I even go about getting adsense income? Right now I've got a newly formed blog with adsense, and an old nonupdated webcomics site with adsense (that never really raked in many hits).

So any tips, guides, advice, or general direction pointing from any of the experts (in my eyes, that's anyone making money) would be extremely appreciated. I apologize if I went about this the wrong way. I hope to hear from some of you!

Good luck earning 10 bucks in your first months.

The secret to high income is:

    1) Quality content
    2) Traffic

That's it. Create something you like. Don't go for "high" paying keywords such as lawyers, mortgage, stocks, etc. $20 per click - that's urban myth..well, at least these days. I own attorney directory site and I had a couple of clicks. None of them made me more than one figure per click.

The first thing you've got to consider is your niches and keywords- write in a profitable niche (how do you find that out? there are tools for that)- and use keywords that aren't so ultracompetitive you'll never get search rankings for them
