Extra characters above header

I have looked and I can't see where these extra characters " /> are coming from in the header area of my site. Anybody know what file I need to check? Thanks!

I am reviving this thread because I cannot find the exact file in the root directory where this may be. Is there anyone that knows a lot about wordpress that might be able to help out? I looked everywhere it's driving me batty..
