External is nofollowing other websites, internal nofollow is putting the nofollow tags on certain pages (I usually nofollow contact), since it's not important.

Both are nofollow links. Both are treated the same by Google. The only difference is whether the page being linked to is opened in a new browser window or the same browser window.

Suppose you have a web sites and you have putted some links with no-follow attribute which targets to other web sites or web pages are known as external no-follow links.
Suppose your web sites home page target any inner page of your website(In same domain) with no-follow attribute is known as Internal No-Follow links.
In brief targeting other's link with NO-Follow attribute is External NO-Follow link and Targeting same domain name pages from same domain name page is Internal No-Follow Links.
