external HDD is not recognized anymore?! So I have an external 320G Toshiba, charged solely by USB. When I bought it, everything went fine: my PC recognized it the first time I plugged it in, my netbook as well. After a week or so, I bought myself a nice Logitech G510 keyboard, before I had an old A4tech keyboard that was still using the PS/2 port, and the G510 uses USB. The next day when I tried plugging in my USB I FREAKED OUT, it didn't get recognized anymore! I checked it on my netbook, and everything went fine! ... then I unplugged my keyboard and plugged it in, and it worked! A few days ago, it started not working anymore on my PC at all, around the time I changed my video board. Now I can only access it on my netbook and this sucks! ... what can I do? I am thinking that, as I upgraded my keyboard to one that required more power, the USB port for the HDD might have been low on power, or the ports might be shared at motherboard level and it could be on low speed until I powered down the keyboard and now, as the new video board is eating up more W, maybe it can no longer suply the needed amount of power needed for the HDD on USB, could that be it? I don't know of any possible conflict between the USB ports and the video board concerning speed or power usage, and the little LED on the HDD is always on when it's connected, but the PC can't seem to recognize it, checked in device manager, it doesn't even mark it as unknown device or anything I'm helpless, please give me an idea of what I can do, besides buying a new PU, because I'm really short on cash Could there be any solution? Thanks in advance to any answer!
yeah, I don't think I'm gonna do that... they're just gonna plug it into a computer and tell me nothing's wrong... thanks for the comment, anyhow you're the only one to reply ... Cheers!
Have you tried connecting the HDD on your PC while your USB keyboard is disconnected? If your HDD still works on your netbook then it could possibly be a power requirement. Try to replace your PC power supply with one that has a higher wattage.
Oh in that case, you can tell them in advance that not to do that... if you have something else then do favour me
