I have a simple question regarding dup contents. i once used blogger.com to do my blogging. i had this myname.blogspot.com before. i then decided to use wordpress than blogspot, meaning all content on my blogspot will be exported to my wordpress account. Will search engines see that as a duplicate content? since those 2 accounts have the same content? thanks in advance
Oh yea i could do that. But i have already gained some rankings with the old one. I would like to know the best way to do this to avoid being penalized because of dups
you dont get penalized for duplicate content. Google will choose which they think is the original source of the content and most likely filter any other sources.
Just make a redirect from your old blog to your new blog. After a while, your old blog will stop being indexed and only your new blog will be in the index. P.S. I did that once for one of my blogs (moving from Blogspot to Movable Type) and it worked fine.
AFAIK, there is no server-side redirect on blogspot (or at least there wasn't when I did it in early 2004). I modified my blogspot template so that it contained a client-side Javascript + Meta Tag redirect.
Well nice information, and i would like to add upon more , if u r gonna simply copying your content from your blogger to google, you have to re-index the pages again, as the domain was under .blogspot, So better thing is redirect or start adding the articles from the continous form however make sure you do proper linking. Hope this will sort the issues.
Well what i assume you are gonna transfering the content from one page to another, and if that page or the articles are indexd thn there could be a problem as spiders will see they had indexed the page earlier however on different address!!
