Well, it peaked on the second day, and then dropped to about double of what it originally was. I am still getting some "Killers" hits, but now I'm getting a few "Jet" ones as well, actually, quite a lot. The last day on that graph still has 7.5 hours of today to go..

Normally the bands I review are a lot smaller/less known that The Killers or Jet, so I think these two well known bands have brought a lot of traffic to my site.

What will I take from this? (starting to sound like a wanker, I know...) Well, I could just review more popular bands, couldn't I. The thing is there are plenty of other sites doing this, and I will likely lose my return visitors, as they can find info elsewhere. I think I will post a review of a more popular artist every now and then, to draw big SE traffic, in the hope that they will look around t bands they may never of heard of, like my site, and come back.

Seems strange - all this time trying to build traffic, and once I find out how to, I'm not going to do it

Thanks for all the responses, as usual, DP has been a big help to me :)

PS, please no more comments about how small my traffic numbers are. I know.

maybe there was a radio or tv feature about something on ur site which would have made a temporary boom in the searchers for such content of yours. maybe a band did a gig or something

Google has regular updates, drops pages and picks pages up. This happens on a regular basis. (Google has just dropped 150+ pages on one of my sites). Every time it does the same questions come up over and over...

There is only one way to handle the ups and down of Google. Just ignore them and keep building quality content on a regular basis. Google will eventually sort the wheat from the chaff and a quality site will shine through. This isn't criticism, I'm just stating the facts. If you have a young (less than 12 month old) site the only thing you should be doing is concentrating on quality content.

Unfortunately Google isn't perfect and we all have to accept that they stuff up sometimes, but generally speaking they do ok. Your site has benefited from the latest update because of all the work you've put in over the past whatever time period. Trying to figure what has caused the increase in traffic is counterproductive because it takes you away from what you should be doing - adding more content.

So congratulations, whatever you are doing you are doing it right, just keep it up. Remember the tortoise! ;)

Edit: As for your traffic, one of my sites has about 200 uniques per day yet it still pulls in over A$500 per month. So ignore comments about your traffic, it's quality that counts.

Thanks for the kind words, I think that will be my plan. Hopefully after I have a year or so worth of reviews, things will happen for me :)

I add new content at least twice a week. It would be nice to add more, but thats all I can manage at the moment..
