Is this on the news at the moment over there? On http://www.news.com.au/, it says: "A BUILDING has reportedly collapsed in New York City following an explosion"
From the other news articles that I read on CNN, ABC, and the Associated Press, none of them said anything about a building collapsing. I think the story had a little twist added to it. Read these ones to be sure.. http://www.wtopnews.com/index.php?nid=104&sid=1193220 http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=3391660
Oops. Looks like you beat me to this one antman! So is it a steam pipe, or is it a transformer explosion? Much speculation at the moment.
CNN says that 11 people were injured thus far...burns and debris and whatnot, at least two people are in critical condition in the hospital. Mud and steam is still shooting out of the scene. The site is at 370 Lexington Avenue, near the Grand Central Station and Chrysler Building. They evacuated the entire area and the train station as well. They say that ConEdison, the owners of all the pipes in NYC is taking all the pressure out of the pipes in NYC to eventually reduce the geyser of steam and mud that is spewing out of the site. Put the TV on CNN for live coverage.
Thank God it wasn't a terrorist attach but still freighting since the images of 911 are embedded into our minds.
