I am thinking of using it to make IE visitors to my site download firefox via my Adsense referral link. But will I get banned?

Is there any other custom page you guys use that I can redirect IE users to when they visit my site so they can download firefox?

 

you can place a heading on top saying that this website is best viewed in firefox, you method can be illegal

 

i dont see why it is illegal. you are still referring users to download firefox

 

I read that someone people get banned because it kinda forces visitors to download firefox

 

Personally I would simply not view your website if you tried to make me use a specific browser. Why not simply put up a sign with the benefits of firefox?

I think it is okay,many sites are providing firefox downloading,a name does not hurt Msoft much.

 

people will download at their own will. if you force them to download or bring up the download link on a popup, then the method would violate adsense TOS. besides, IE is still most popular browser (in terms of how many users use it) and yuo will be loosing lot of traffic with this method as not all of your IE traffic will choose to download therefore will just leave

 

I suggest you confirm by contacting adsense support.

 

do use any custom page that will redirect visitor to install firefox. you better put referal on the frontpage and persuade them to install firefox.
