Can somebody tell me what a VCC is and how to get one?

There are many types of VCC (virtual credit cards):
- VCC for PayPal/eBay/AdWords Account verification ...
- VCC for shopping
- ...

What is a VCC? VCC is the short form of V(irtual)C(redit)C(ard). The main use for VCCs is to give CC holders a secure feeling when paying online. There are some banks (for example HDFC in India, CITI etc) which allow cardholders to generate VCCs from their standard bank account or CC. These are cardnumbers different from the original cardnumber and have a unique CVV2 and exp. date like every other CC. Because of this cardholders donÂ´t have to worry when paying something online as they never give out their real CC-info, only the VCC info. So if for example an online-store gets hacked and the cardholder info get into cyberthieveÂ´s hands there is no need to worry as they will only have the info of the VCC then and not the real CC-info. Because VCCs are preloaded only the left money in the VCC can be lost in worst case and not the whole credit limit. There exist different types of VCCs: onetime and reloadable: most of VCCs sold on the net are onetime use cards with a short validity (max. 3 months in most cases) which only come with cardnumber, CVV2 and exp. and can be used in any name and adress, but there are also reloadable cards: these can be setup in any name (sometimes an ID-verification is needed to setup a VCC account too) and are reloadable through different methods like direct deposit, CC or bank wire. They have mostly a longer validity (from 6 months to 2 years) and come with an online account panel so you can see all past transactions etc. Many cards (onetime use are sold for verification purposes, for example PayPal, ebay etc. but this is only a side effect). VCCs are a good solution for people who donÂ´t get a real CC but often have to pay online for goods.
