    hello all,

i am after a domain name that has been registred almost 2 years ago by someone else, but never used. if it won't be renewen it is going to expire in 2-3 weeks. my questions are:
how fast can i register it after the expiration date?
the age of the domain will be lost after a re-registration?

please comment if you have been in this type of situation befeore.
    thanks!

About ~90 days plus ahead depending on the domain name registrar.

You will not lose the age of the domain after re registration, but people will be able to know its a dropped domain if we check online.

Best also to look for a domain that has links already, as then you can steal some of that old link juice too!

It depends on the registrar. Some drop names fast, some have divisions under a different/ phony corporate name to grab your name before it even becomes available to the public, etc...

The most likely you'll see the domain listed on some of expired domains auctions like SnapNames or NameJet. A chance to simply register a dropped domain is minimal if this domain has any value.

NameJet is owned by eNom, a registrar, isn't it?

Partly. NameJet has also exclusive partnership with NetworkSolutions.

The best to get the domain you want is to backorder that domain name using Namejet,Snapnames,Name,Godaddy or pool :)
